June 21, 2021, marked the seventh edition of International Day of Yoga, and the theme this year is, ‘Yoga for well-being’.
Keeping the purpose of the day in mind, The HDFC School, Bengaluru, celebrated the International Yoga Day. A special assembly was organized for the students and parents on this summer solstice by the students of Grade V.
The assembly began with the invocation of the Lord Almighty. After the thought of the day that reminded us about the importance of yoga in our lives, the students presented the asanas they work upon in their yoga programme. They presented their thoughts on how yoga is relevant to us at all times especially today. The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic was not just physical, it also left a lasting impact on people’s mental health. Yoga can help people in dealing with crises, boost immunity and help to fight any respiratory disorders.
The highlight of the assembly was the live yoga session that was conducted for the students and parents. The session began with a couple of eye exercise followed by triangle pose, butterfly pose and meditation. The assembly concluded with the national anthem.
Overall, it was a session that reiterated the significance of yoga and meditation in these unprecedented times.
