JNCASR visit by Grade VII students | The HDFC School, Bengaluru

On the occasion of National Science Day, the students of Grade VII from The HDFC School, Bengaluru, had the privilege of visiting the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bengaluru. The visit was organised to inspire young minds and provide them with first-hand experience of scientific research and innovation.

The visit began with the inauguration of the National Science Open Day by Dr. C N. Rao and Mrs. Indumathi Rao. An introductory session by JNCASR faculty members, explaining the institution’s research focus and achievements.

A brief talk on the life and contributions of Sir C.V. Raman was delivered, emphasising his impact on Indian science and explaining the theme for this year’s National Science Day.

Students had the opportunity to explore different laboratories where they witnessed cutting-edge experiments and scientific demonstrations. Students had the opportunity to visit the Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit (EOBU) where they were introduced to ongoing research on ecology, animal behaviour, and evolutionary genetics.

Researchers explained the significance of these studies in medical and technological applications.

A special interactive session was conducted, where eminent scientists engaged with the students, answering their questions and encouraging them to pursue careers in scientific research.

The visit concluded with a feedback session where students shared their experiences. Many students expressed interest in pursuing careers in research and innovation. The visit successfully provided students with exposure to high-level scientific research and motivated them to think critically about scientific advancements. This exposure to cutting-edge research inspired students to explore the world of science beyond textbooks and has encouraged them to consider careers in research and innovation.
