Adolescence is a time of major transition physically, emotionally and socially. Healthy sexuality is an important part of adolescent development, and primary healthcare providers play a key role in helping young people develop healthy routines, behaviors, and relationships that they can carry into their adult lives.
The HDFC School, Bengaluru, understands the importance of creating awareness amongst students to enhance their overall well-being. A workshop was organized on the topic ‘Sex Education,’ on the 3rd of February 2023 for students of Grades VIII and IX.
Dr. Deepshika Jha, a consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Rainbow Children’s Hospital was invited to speak about the various topics related to growing up, such as the changes experienced during puberty, sexually transmitted diseases, safe and unsafe touch. The session emphasized the importance of abstinence in the prevention of Sexually transmitted diseases and the long-term implications of Adolescents~ choices.
This was followed by a round of questions posed by the students of The HDFC School.
This informative workshop equipped the students with the knowledge, attitude and values that will empower them to realize the impact of their choices and gain confidence in their health and well-being.
