Events

Events provide a platform to our students to showcase their talents and energies both at the academic as well as creative fronts. An event is nothing without the efforts of a sincere and diligent team working together. Our students and staff are full of innovative and progressive ideas. Hard work and preparedness go a long way and can be seen at the various events being held at The HDFC School and preparing our students to be leaders in the 21st century.

Curiosity Circle - Workshop on Neuroscience | The HDFC School, Bengaluru

Date of event: July - 2023

Description :

Workshop on Neuroscience by Guest Speaker, Dr. Sufia Sadaf, a Prolific Neuroscientist.

Inspiration is an internal drive that transcends us to new possibilities by allowing us to leave our comfort zone, ordinary experiences, and limitations in order to achieve our goals with unceasing efforts. Without inspiration, dreamers live in a bubble made of satisfying mental plans which soon transform into disappointment.

Thus, to kindle that intense spark in us and to keep the unfathomable spirit of learning, researching, and attaining one’s dreams afloat, The HDFC School, Bengaluru conducted their second “Curiosity Circle” workshop for the students of grades III to V on 11 July, 2023. The guest speaker, Dr. Sufia Sadaf, a prolific neuroscientist piqued the interest of the students on the topic “Neuroscience - Let’s learn about our Nervous System, Brain centers, and Neurons signals.” by making them aware of the different parts of the brain, the types of neurons, and how the sensory pathway and motor pathways receive and send brain signals.

To make the students understand more about neuroscience, she not only also showed the microscopic view of various species like fruit flies, dolphins, cats, and rats but also made the students perform some exercises to explain which part of the brain is responsible for perceiving what activities. She also introduced a couple of neuroscience jargon like locomotion, dopamine, cerebellum, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, frontal lobe, and amygdala to name a few. It was indeed an enriching session that was wrapped up by students eagerly wishing to become neuroscientists when they grow up.
