Transforming Teaching through Storytelling
The HDFC School hosted an inspiring session for all the teachers of classes VI-XII, led by the acclaimed storyteller Ms. Simi Srivastava, founder of Kathashala. With her extensive background in education and innovative storytelling techniques, Ms. Srivastava demonstrated how stories can enhance learning and engage students.
Ms. Srivastava imparted her knowledge to the teachers, highlighting how storytelling makes complex concepts relatable and memorable, capturing students~ imaginations, fostering critical thinking, and encouraging empathy. She emphasized that storytelling can be used across all subjects to create an immersive learning experience. Teachers learned that language arts benefit from enhanced writing skills, science concepts become simpler, math lessons more engaging, history and social studies come alive, and foreign language vocabulary is taught in context. Additionally, art and music lessons are enriched by exploring the stories behind famous works. These insights were key takeaways for the educators, equipping them with new strategies to make their teaching more effective and engaging.
