International Day of Yoga Celebration

Date of event: June - 2021

Description :

The HDFC School, Gurgaon celebrated the 7th International Day of Yoga with great spirit and enthusiasm through a virtual zoom session on 21 June 2021. The parents, students and teachers of the school participated in the session where our yoga instructor Ms. Malem Hawaibam Devi and our sports coach Mr. Nishad Singh Kanyal through guided demonstrations allowed the people to turn their senses inward and establish the connect between the mind and the self.

Head Girl Nitika Sood opened the session by greeting everyone. Her ebullience set the tone for the session. School Principal Mrs. Anita Makkar welcomed all the parents and appreciated their gesture of being a part of this endeavor to mark the significance of Yoga in our lives. She drew attention to the fact that such sessions not only bring parents, teachers and students together as a community but also encourage to maintain a healthy living. It’s an invisible human chain to promote holistic wellness.

The Yoga session started with the soulful chant of the Gayatri Mantra by Ms. Shruti Rishi and Mr. Angad Kukreja, followed by the warm up exercises. Various asanas like the surya namaskar, ushtrasand, shashankasana, ardha matsyendrasana, savasana were performed and the importance of each was explained simultaneously. Advanced Yoga asanas were also demonstrated by the students.

The event was a grand success. While it was a rejuvenating morning for all, it was purposeful too. The session apprised every one of the benefits of practicing yoga and inspired them to focus on physical, emotional and mental well-being. Performing the asanas in unison though virtually, created a reverberating and nourishing life force exuberating peace, tranquility and positivity in the comfort and safe environment of our homes. The session helped us strengthen the need to balance our daily routines with a mix of work and relaxation and sowed the seed of inspiration to adopt Yoga as a regular practice.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Raghav Varma, the Head Boy, who made sure that parents, teachers and students promise to themselves to make health and wellness their priority.
