The HDFC School, Gurgaon hosted a workshop on ‘Assessment in Foundational literacy and Numeracy’ for educators from nursery to grade 2. Resource person Dr. Romilla Soni shared the strategies and methodologies to enhance the art of storytelling. She emphasized the importance of continuous assessment of learners through storytelling activities. She reiterated that for learning outcomes to be successfully achieved, they must be first established. Dr. Soni shared some of her tried-and-true activities like Toy Basket, Story Word Chain, Telephone Pictionary, Paper Dolls in Paper City, allowing the teachers to participate first-hand. A traditional form of Hindi rhymes and stories that a learner retains as they mature were also shared during the session.
It was an engaging session which aimed at instilling LSRW skills in learners and achieving required learning outcomes through the art of storytelling.
