Description :
“If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten”.
Rudyard Kipling
Storytelling is an art and children have a love for stories. It is a magical moment for them and a powerful tool to influence their language development. A folktale narration activity was organised on August 8, 2023 for the students of Grade I and II to boost their confidence and speaking skills.
These young narrators used a variety of props and some of them were dressed up as characters to make their stories interesting and expressive. The effective use of voice modulation and body language instilled passion, boosted imagination, and exposed students to new horizons of storytelling.
The young vibrant storytellers came forth with wonderful tales. While some stories provided food for thought, some reinforced moral values and some were humorous. This activity helped to evolve the young minds with moral values and ignite their thinking skills. It not only boosted the language skills but also broadened their imagination. Students narrated folktales from all across the globe and on different cultures. They also enjoyed listening to their peers and encouraged each other.
The session was engaging and interactive which helped students to enhance their communication skills and helped to improve their listening abilities. The narratives reinforced the importance of storytelling as a tool for preserving cultural heritage, connecting generations and passing down wisdom.
