To celebrate the rich heritage of dance and music in our country, The HDFC School, Gurgaon in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) organized a Kathak performance by world-renowned Kathak artiste, Ms. Monisa Nayak on 31 August 2022.
Kathak, the dance of precise, expressive, and graceful movements, was performed in accord with musical accompaniment. In reality, dance is much more. It’s an art, a sport, a way to express one’s self, exercise, and face your emotions. Since time immemorial, humans have used different types of dance forms to express themselves. And witnessing the performance by Ms. Nayak mesmerized our students and teachers, especially when she so eloquently and gracefully explained her dance form and accompanying music to the students. This gave the students an insight into the essence of the dance form and an opportunity to interact with the artiste.
