“Children learn from anything and everything they see. They learn wherever they are, not just in special learning places”- John Holt
“Being prepared and informed is the best way to handle emergencies.”
To acquaint the students with hands-on understanding of the role of fire fighters in the community and to foster a sense of community responsibility, The HDFC School organized a field trip for Grades- Nursery to Grades II to the local fire station as a part of their educational experience.
The firefighters provided an insight into their daily routines and the equipment they use like the fire helmet, fire branch, night vision cameras, smoke detectors and the breathing apparatus that they use during the fire emergency situations.
Firefighters conducted a small drill and held an interactive session with the students discussing the importance of emergency evacuation plans, and the "Stop, Drop, and Roll" technique. Students were encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in discussion.
It was a delight to see the students interact with the firemen and learn how they can come together as a team to fight tough situations.
The school~s visit to the fire station was a valuable and enriching experience for the students. It gave them an idea about what to do and how important it is to use their presence of mind when a crisis occurs.
