Sakura Science High School Exchange Program 2024: A Journey of Learning and Discovery
Daksh Kalia of The HDFC School, Gurgaon along with 24 other Inspire Awards Manak National winners, participated in the Sakura Science Program—a collaboration between India~s Department of Science and Technology and Japan~s Science and Technology Agency from 19 May, to 25 May, 2024 at Japan. This week-long program offered high school students a unique opportunity to explore Japan~s advanced scientific landscape and rich cultural heritage.
The program featured visits to historic sites like Asakusa Shrine and educational institutions like Tokyo University. Daksh engaged with experts at the Advanced Industrial Science and Technology centre A highlight of the program was the enriching tour of the JAXA Tsukuba Space Station, where the students gained first hand insights into advanced laboratories focused on chemistry, micro-physics, and artificial intelligence.
Cultural immersion was also a key aspect, highlighted by a visit to an Upper Secondary High School and a lecture by Nobel laureate Professor Kajita Takaaki on neutrinos. The experience concluded with a certificate ceremony, leaving Daksh with a deep appreciation for global science and enduring international friendships.
