An event is nothing without the efforts of a sincere and diligent team working together. Our students and staff are full of innovative and progressive ideas. Toycathon 2021 gave a unique opportunity to the CBSE teachers and students to create and submit innovative toys / games concepts. The magnificent journey of Toycathon 2021, for The HDFC School, Pune, commenced when they submitted their proposal on 20 January 2021 about revisiting Indian history through a very innovative, educative and interesting game. The game provided an opportunity to promote the rich Indian culture, ethos, values and beliefs through an interesting time travel journey over three time periods, the ancient, medieval and modern.

The HDFC School, Pune Team The school team comprised of students and teachers who were working on this project were, students: Rajit Dixit, Shreya Katariya, Devanshi Taneja, Aditya Bhattacharjee (Grade IX) and teacher mentors were Aparna Dhar, Amica Negi, Pawan Dubey and Simarjeet Kaur under the guidance of Ms Pooja Rai (Academic Coordinator) and they named themselves as ‘Time Travellers.’

The Game: Time travellers - Journey through the Three era of Indian History. They designed a type of quizzing game where the student travels to ancient era and has to answer the questions related to Indian history. The questions included MCQ, Picture based, time line, map-based questions, audio visual question etc. Technical features - Parental control, language options, accessibility, incentives, avatars.

Bonus included extra points for endorsements of local cottage industry owners. The app also allows to connect and purchase directly from the business owners and yet another bonus included virtual field trip and graphic novels to read.

The Grand Finale: Out of total 17770 ideas, top 1500 were selected for the final round and The HDFC School, Pune team qualified for the same which was then held virtually between 22-24 June 2021. There were total 300 teams who had participated in this round and yet another feather in the cap, The HDFC School, Pune made it in the grand finale which was held on 24th June 2021 called as ‘Power Judging Round.’ From the grand finale round, total 117 teams had been selected and indeed it is a proud moment that The HDFC School Pune won in the Toycathon 2021 in the grand finale round.
